Tuesday weather forecast: slightly warmer temperatures expected

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Labor Day marked the first time the mercury dropped to 49 degrees since May 28. Cooler-than-average starts are likely for most of the extended forecast, but overall we should be at or above 50 degrees.

Expect temperatures in western Nebraska to rise to around 90 to 95 degrees Fahrenheit.

In the east it is about 30 degrees and in the west it is about 32 degrees!(COLN)

Mostly clear with low temperatures tonight between 10 and 16 degrees.

Minimum temperatures at night are around or slightly below average.(COLN)

Wednesday will remain the warmest of the 7-day period for the capital. Mid 80s to low 90s are likely across the state. The cooler temperatures in the west will be due to a cold front moving through.

That front is likely to bring some showers and storms, some of which could be severe. The Storm Prediction Center has put much of central, northern and western Nebraska in a marginal chance of isolated severe storms. Gusty winds and possibly some large hail are the main concerns Wednesday.

In the afternoon and evening, occasional heavy storms are possible.(COLN)

That front will drop highs by about 10 degrees through Thursday, with another cold front dropping highs to the 70s on Friday and Saturday. Outside of Thursday, chances of rain are also slim.
