LAWRENCE JONES, FOX NEWS CORRESPONDENT: So, sir —

TRUMP: If they had included those numbers, they would have been the worst crime numbers we’ve ever had.

JONES: So, Mr. President, let’s talk about Chicago. You brought it up. I had the opportunity — I’ve been going all over Chicago for years. But I went to a barbershop and there were a lot of people.

They were talking about you. They were talking about Kamala Harris stealing the tipping plan from you. They say they’re open — this is a small sample of the people I’m talking to. Look.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: We’ve been doing these barbershop tours since ’03 and it’s really enlightening to hear people start to change their political leanings. I think it’s time for blacks in general to raise their political IQ and stop blindly aligning themselves with a one-party system that’s not working for us.

So I’ve always liked Donald Trump. You know, he was an icon in our community for years and now he’s a big Ku Klux Klan guy (ph).

JONES: What’s changed?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I think the — I think the powers that be saw his potential in our community. It’s — if anybody — Republicans would really start communicating in the — in these communities, they would come to barbershops and they would see it. We speak the same language.

JONES: Yes, I do.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: But they don’t have — they don’t have — they don’t know how to communicate. So they’d rather not.

JONES: So, Mr. President, he says you need to communicate directly with voters. Are you going to be out in the barbershops, in local communities, talking about the issues that matter to them?

TRUMP: And I’m going to do that. I like that guy, and I like those people in — I watched you do it yesterday. You’re doing a great job, by the way.

I watched yesterday when you did the interviews. These are great people. These are people who just want security. They don’t want much. He wants to run his barbershop.

The people who got the haircuts — I thought about maybe going there myself, because that’s — they — I like the work, maybe — they just make my hair look better. I would pay a lot of money for that haircut. They can make my hair look better.

But you know, honestly, these are great people, these are hardworking people. They’re strong. They’re tough. And they know they’re being ripped off by the Democrats.

You have a corrupt political system in Chicago. Look at your governor — the governor is an incompetent man. He was thrown out of the family business. He was — Hyatt Hotels, I was a partner with them years ago in a job in New York. They threw him out of the company.

I know the family very well. They threw him out because they didn’t want him in the business.

He becomes governor. He has money. He becomes governor. He is incompetent.

Look, Chicago and the whole Illinois thing is very, very corrupt, but we’re taking a big step there. We’re taking a big step in New York. You have the same situation in New York.

If you went to a barbershop – any barbershop you want to call it, if you went to a barbershop in New York, in Los Angeles, in any place you want to talk about – you would find the same thing, the same reaction.

They’re really upset, and I saw the mothers on your show this morning before we started, so sad. They’ve given up on life, you’ve got the worst prosecutors, they’re going after guys like me, they’re not going to — they’re going after me for questioning the election and stuff like that.

It’s nonsense. If there are elections — if you can’t ask questions about elections, then — we don’t have a country. But if people are being murdered, if their children are being murdered, nothing happens.

I remember Jussie Smollett, I said you have to prosecute this guy and they did. But Jussie Smollett got a free hand and yet these are the murderers — and they know who they are. The worst part is they know who they are. They’re not even going to arrest them.

And you have many communities like that. Chicago is terrible in that regard, but you have many communities like that.

Chicago was a great city 20 years ago. I built a great building in Chicago. I see it every time they do the skyline. But Chicago has really gone down the drain and I think I’m going to get a huge vote from Chicago.
