Anyway, it’s a very busy weekend for me

Wordle Analysis

Every day I check Wordle Bot to analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot here.

Well, this one hurts. That’s life. SHAME was pretty shameful, with 470 solutions left and one measly yellow box. I really don’t know why I guessed ELDER next, other than I’ve played a bit Ring of Elden . . . but it didn’t help me much, I was left with 29 words and two yellow squares. BOINK was my attempt to try all the new letters (on guess #3!) and I only got 1 yellow square. At this point I could think of two words and since I prefer the color GREEN over most others, I made a bad choice. RERUN was the Wordle. On guess #5.

Competitive Wordle Score

I lose 1 point for guessing in five and another point for losing the Bot. -2 points and on a 2XP Friday that means -4! Oh humanity! Oh woe is me!

How to Play Wordle Competitively

  • Guess a number 1 and you get 3 points; guess a number 2 and you get 2 points; guess a number 3 and you get 1 point; guess a number 4 and you get 0 points; guess a number 5 and you get -1 point; guess a number 6 and you get -2 points and missing the Wordle gives -3 points.
  • If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If you draw you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily score or just play every day for a new score.
  • Fridays are 2XP, meaning you double your points, positive or negative.
  • You can keep a running count or just play day-to-day. Have fun!

The Etymology of Today’s Wordle

The word “repetition” comes from two components: the prefix “regarding-“which means “again”, and the verb “walk”which means to show or perform. The combination literally means “to perform again”, referring to something being broadcast or performed for the second time.

The term “rerun” came into common association with television in the 1950s and 1960s when networks began airing repeat broadcasts of previously aired TV shows, usually during off-seasons or to fill time slots. The word can also be used more broadly to describe the repetition of an event or action.
