ODESSA, Texas (KOSA) – FIRST ALERT 7 Weather Forecast for Wednesday, September 18, 2024: Another warm day ahead for West Texas and southeastern New Mexico, with a chance of isolated showers across the region.

Highs across the region will warm into the 90s and triple digits. Midland/Odessa is hoping for a high of 95 degrees. Skies will be mostly sunny throughout the day. Winds will be slightly stronger today, between 5 and 20 mph across the region with the strongest winds in southeastern New Mexico and the Permian Basin. Isolated rain chances will continue across the region today. A few storms could be strong to severe with gusty/damaging winds being the biggest threat. Storm activity looks to taper off around sunset with the loss of daytime heating.

A slight cool down is planned for Friday and an even better cool down this weekend thanks to a cool front. A cool front is moving through parts of the region this weekend, helping to bring temperatures closer to normal and bringing some light rain chances to the region. Temperatures after the front look to remain closer to normal for this time of year.
