Today’s top weather news: Storms derail train, spawn tornadoes in Plains

Tornadoes captured on video in the Plains

Severe weather swept across parts of the northern plains on Wednesday, with thunderstorms which produced powerful winds that blew over a train, as well as reports of tornadoes, large hail and harmful to wind.

At least five reports of tornadoes have been received from North Dakota And South Dakotaincluding a large tornado that was captured on video by exclusive FOX Weather Storm Tracker Brandon Copic.

More extreme weather events are coming to the Midwest

For the third time this week, parts of Minnesota and Wisconsin could be hit by severe weather.

The potential for a severe storm is likely to spread across Minnesota, with the Twin Cities in its sights. NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center has a Threat level 2 of 5 for extreme weather here.

A crash of a Falcon 9 booster off the coast of Florida led to the Federal Aviation Administration temporarily grounding the fleet. SpaceX must now figure out what went wrong before flying again.

The launch of the rocket and satellite during the mission on Wednesday morning appeared to go off without a hitch, but the landing of the booster on the drone ship “A Shortfall of Gravitas” went wrong.

Video captured the moment when the piece of the rocket crashed onto the deck during the recovery process.
