K-pop idol Moon Tae-il is no longer a member of popular K-pop group NCT 127. SM Entertainment announced this on August 28. According to them, the decision was made in light of serious allegations against Tae-il regarding a sexual offense.

In their official statement, SM Entertainment revealed that the ongoing investigation into the matter led to this course of action. However, they stressed that the details of the investigation are being kept secret to protect the privacy and integrity of the process.

SM Entertainment wrote: “This is SM Entertainment. We recently confirmed that Taeil is involved in a criminal case involving sexual crimes. When we investigated the situation, we found that the issue was very serious and we decided that Taeil could no longer continue team activities. We discussed this matter with Taeil and it was decided that he would be removed from the group.”

The statement further noted that Taeil is currently cooperating with the police. SM also apologized on behalf of the artist. Taeil’s bandmates unfollowed him on social media following the news.

For those who don’t know, the musician recently joined the promotions for their comeback ‘WALK’ after a short hiatus. He made his debut with NCT in April 2016 via NCT U and debuted with NCT 127 in July 2016.

Besides his work for NCT, he has also sung OSTs for dramas such as ‘Twenty-Five Twenty-One’ and ‘Missing Crown Prince’.
