Topline

Taeil, a 30-year-old member of South Korean boy band NCT, has left the band, which is on the Billboard 200 chart, after police launched an investigation into him for an unspecified alleged sex crime, his agency said Wednesday.

Key Facts

Taeil, whose legal name is Moon Tae-il, left the band after being “accused in a criminal case involving a sexual offense,” his talent agency, SM Entertainment, said in a message to X, formerly known as Twitter, as translated by the Associated Press.

It is unclear what exactly the musician is accused of, but SM’s statement said he is cooperating with an investigation by authorities.

Representatives for SM Entertainment did not immediately respond to Forbes’ request for further comment on Wednesday.
