MNF: Tennessee Titans @ Miami Dolphins Live wire and game information

The vast majority of Miami Dolphins fans expected to enter this week’s game with a 3 and 0 record. The script did not go the way any of us had hoped. After week one’s matchup was much closer than we were comfortable with, Miami was able to secure a win over the now 0 and 4 Jacksonville Jaguars, with a field goal as time expired, 20 to 17. That was followed by a Thursday night showdown against the division rival Buffalo Bills in a game that cost the team a 31-10 loss and also saw starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa go down with yet another concussion in the coming weeks. Miami then faced the Seattle Seahawks last week. The week three game was another blowout loss, 24 to 3. The game also saw Miami lose another quarterback to injury when backup Skylar Thompson left the game with a pectoral injury.

After seeing the offense that was number one in the entire NFL last season fall to the bottom of the league, now ranked 32nd, and the loss of the team’s starting quarterback, Miami went out and signed quarterback Tyler Huntley of the Baltimore Ravens practice squad. . Tyler has now been tagged to start tonight against the Titans. Huntley doesn’t have a reputation as a good passer so far in his career. Still, he’s known as a good to great running/scrambling quarterback, giving Miami a dynamic they don’t have with any of the other quarterbacks on the roster. With Tagovailoa out for at least next week’s game, the Dolphins are hoping Huntley will add a spark that has been missing from the Phin offense thus far.

The Titans come into this game in even worse shape than the Dolphins have so far, having dropped all three of their games to start the season. A lot of their issues revolve around the turnovers of second-year quarterback Will Levis. Through three games, Levis has five interceptions against four touchdowns, as well as three fumble recoveries. His eight goals in the league also come with 15 sacks given up in the same three games. The inability of the Titan’s offensive line to protect Levis thus far should provide plenty of opportunities for the Dolphin’s defensive line, which has struggled at times this season, to get some action tonight.

—My choice: Miami “should” finish as the home team tonight. While Miami has struggled so far this season and will be playing with their fourth quarterback in four games, I expect Tyler Huntley to provide a spark to a run-heavy version of the offense with his ability to get out of the pocket and get away run when necessary. While the Dolphins are unlikely to run up the score tonight, they should be able to move the ball enough and do enough to pull out a win by a field goal margin or more. I also expect the Dolphins defense to be opportunistic against a Titans offense that has had tremendous issues this season with both turnovers and the ability to otherwise protect the quarterback.
