Is Baker Mayfield injured? Bucs QB staggers off the court after Falcon’s sack

Baker Mayfield was dismantling the Atlanta Falcons defense with many of his offensive pieces missing in the game against the Atlanta Falcons. The Buccaneers had a commanding 27-20 lead, but then Baker Mayfield was sacked by one of Atlanta’s pass rushers. He slowly got up and staggered out of the field.

We felt his pain after the broadcaster saw him “hobble away on one knee” and go to the sidelines. He looks fine though, he’s still padded, so it could have just been a regular injury and nothing else. Mayfield turned off the lights before the Atlanta Falcons gained possession near the end of the third quarter.

But it was no surprise when Baker Mayfield returned to the field early in the fourth quarter. The QB made strides as he returned to the field as he rushed to pick up a first down with about 12 minutes left in the final quarter. The Bucs quarterback was running with all his engines running, so his sack was just an injury and nothing more.

His connection with Mike Evans was phenomenal as always. The Falcons started the game early as they put 7 points on the board and the Bucs QB wasted no time answering early in the fourth quarter with a touchdown pass to Mike Evans. But that was only a two-yard pass. It wasn’t as epic as the 23-yard dime Mayfield threw to Evans in the second quarter.

Mayfield faced a blitz with 10:20 left in the second quarter and decided to act quickly. He found a wide open Evans and easily drove it into the end zone. But let’s get back to the topic of injuries and how the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will handle a roster filled to the brim with injured players.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are marching forward with Baker Mayfield and an injured roster

The Bucs entered Mercedes Benz Stadium with seven of their players on the roster “Out.” Despite missing veteran Antoine Winfield Jr from the game, the Bucs did a pretty good job limiting Kirk Cousins’ offense. Baker Mayfield also had to play without two of his No. 3 receivers tonight.

With Trey Palmer and Jalen McMillan already out, the Bucs suffered a setback when Kameron Johnson was ruled out of the game after suffering an ankle injury. He has had a bad ankle since almost the beginning of the season. The rookie even missed a game against the Broncos. However, he was seen riding his bike trying to nurse his ankle.

Johnson may join Calijah Kancey, Luke Goedeke, Devin Culp and Jake Carmada and may not play the next game as there will be no bye week soon.
