Huge discrepancy in number of votes cast and number of votes counted in Lok Sabha elections: ADR | India News

ADR also stated that the delay in releasing the final vote percentage data, the unavailability of constituency-wise and polling station-wise data and the lack of clarity over whether the results were declared based on final counts, have raised concerns about the accuracy of the election results.

New Delhi: In a major claim, the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), the voting rights body, said that there was a huge discrepancy in the number of votes cast in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections in 538 constituencies. According to the body, a total of 5,54,598 votes were counted in 362 Lok Sabha constituencies, while 35,093 votes were counted more than the votes cast in the remaining 176 parliamentary constituencies. The Election Commission is yet to respond to the ADR’s claim.

According to a report by news agency PTI, ADR also claimed that delay in releasing the final vote percentage data, unavailability of constituency-wise and polling station-wise data and lack of clarity as to whether the results were declared based on final counting figures have raised concerns over the accuracy of the election results. However, ADR did not clarify how many seats the results would have changed.

The report said that there was no contest in Surat parliamentary seat. Therefore, there is a total difference of 5,89,691 votes in 538 parliamentary seats. It has been claimed that the number of voters shown on the Voter Turnout App for the first six phases of the elections was absolutely correct. In the last phase i.e. seventh phase of voting, only percentage figures were given and the previous data was deleted by the Election Commission. “Surat PC was uncontested. Therefore, the total difference in 538 PCs is 5,89,691 votes,” the report said.

The Big Claim About the 2019 Elections Too

The report further said that in the 2019 elections, there were also differences in 347 seats. However, there was no difference in the remaining 195 seats. The difference in votes ranged from one vote to the highest number of votes of 1,01,323. There were six seats where the difference in votes was more than the margin of victory. The total difference was 739,104 votes, the body further added in its report.
