A YouTube star has gone for the long haul, fooling the internet for two years while secretly losing massive amounts of weight.

Nicholas Perry, better known as Nikocado Avocado, has over 3.9 million followers on YouTube, where he is best known for his culinary content in the specific genre of ‘Mukbang’, in which he and others eat excessively.

Perry has been making videos on YouTube for over seven years, and when he started he had a much slimmer build, at least compared to his appearance in his penultimate video, which he shared just three months ago, in which he said he had “stopped my weight loss journey.”

However, Perry turned everyone around and showed off a new look in a new video on September 7. Apparently, he had lost 17 st (250 lbs) in just a few months.

The shocking video, called ‘Two Steps Ahead’, which has been viewed more than 3 million times at the time of writing, begins with Perry wearing a panda head and, while in character, telling viewers: “I’m always two steps ahead.”

He adds: “This has been the greatest social experiment of my entire life. It’s disturbing, it’s compelling, it’s gripping to see all these sick, disoriented creatures roaming the internet looking for stories, ideas, rivalries that they can feel encouraged and involved in.”

Perry went on to say that he had now woken up from a “really long dream” in which he had “lost 250 pounds from his body.”

In another video, called “hi” on a separate YouTube channel, Perry is much friendlier with his parrot and briefly explains how he performed his stunt.

Before tucking into a large plate of spicy cheese noodles, Perry explains that he hasn’t made a video in two years and only shares old, pre-made content to maintain his channel and work on his health at the same time.

Perry’s big reveal has since gone viral, with many viewers left stunned by the twist in the story. One fan wrote: “This almost doesn’t feel real, he played us like a fiddle, this redemption arc feels surreal.”

Another wrote: “Nikocado Avocado, I have the utmost respect for you. You have managed to troll the internet for 2 years.”

A third said: “This is the biggest smile I’ve ever had when I saw Nikocado Avocado and I honestly couldn’t be happier and proud of him, no irony.”

Perry has said he will now only post on his second channel and has indicated he will share more about his story next week.
