Will Levis is still the Titans starting quarterback

Mason Rudolph came into the game last night for the Tennessee Titans after Will Levis was injured and did things to Mason Rudolph. He threw the ball 17 times and completed 9 for 85 yards. He didn’t turn the ball over and was sacked only once. It’s hard to see that and not think the Titans could have one or two more wins if Rudolph had started all four games. I get it.

However, Rudolph’s ceiling is limited. The Titans aren’t going to win a Super Bowl with him at quarterback. That is known. What is unknown is whether or not Levis could reach the point where the Titans could win a Super Bowl with him at quarterback. They have to see if Levis can reach his ceiling.

I have my doubts that Levis is anything different than what he has shown this year: a quarterback with a lot of potential, but a guy who will constantly put the ball in danger. There’s also the question of whether or not he has the mental capacity to process things at the speed necessary to be a franchise quarterback.

They could plug Rudolph there and be something close to a .500 team for the rest of the season. That would most likely put them behind the playoffs and pick in the middle of the draft, leaving them in QB purgatory. By playing Levis, they can take a chance on him figuring some things out or being a high pick in the draft.
