You may be wondering, “Is it fall yet?” The answer is still no, but pumpkin patch and hayride season are fast approaching.

It’s been less than two weeks since the official first day of autumn.

You need to know this.

According to the Farmers Almanac, the first day of fall is Sunday, September 22, 2024.

The autumnal equinox is an astronomical event that marks the beginning of autumn, according to the Farmer’s Almanac. The autumnal equinox for the Northern Hemisphere and the first day of fall begin on the same day, at 8:44 a.m. EST Sunday, September 22, 2024.

Winter 2024: A Wet Winter for Kentucky? What the Farmers’ Almanac Says Is in Store

Technically, you could call it both.

Autumn is the oldest word used to describe the season between summer and winter. However, in the 1600s, some people began shortening the season to “fall” in reference to the phrase poets often use “fall of the leaves,” according to Merriam-Webster.

Daylight Saving Time ends on Sunday, November 3 at 2:00 AM local time. This means the clocks go back one hour and we get an extra hour of sleep that day.

Daylight saving time will start again on Sunday, March 9, 2025.
