Tulsi Gabbard Endorses Former President Donald Trump

Topline

Tulsi Gabbard, a former Democratic lawmaker and 2020 presidential candidate who has since left the party, endorsed former President Donald Trump on Monday, years after the sometimes controversial politician rose to national prominence for his spat with Vice President Kamala Harris during the 2020 primaries.

Key Facts

Gabbard said Trump sees “war as a last resort” and she knows he “understands the heavy responsibility a president” carries for the lives of those who serve their country — which Gabbard said does not apply to Harris.

Gabbard left the Democratic Party to run for independent in 2022, nearly two decades after she first entered politics. At the time, she called Democrats an “elitist cabal of warmongers driven by craven wokeness.”

Gabbard has been a frequent guest on conservative news outlets and an outspoken critic of Democrats since leaving the party. Earlier this year, she even expressed interest in becoming Trump’s running mate, saying she would be “honored to do so.”

Gabbard, who served in the Hawaii National Guard and deployed to Iraq in 2005, endorsed Trump at the National Guard Association conference in Detroit.
