Tuesday scattered showers and thunderstorms with some relief from heat and humidity

The chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms will diminish in the afternoon, but low humidity will keep some clouds around through the afternoon. A weak front moved through the area, shifting our winds out of the north, but as the front moves away, breezy west to southwest winds will develop. Most areas toward the central and northern portion of the viewing area will see some relief from the heat, with highs in the mid 80s, although it will remain muggy with dew points in the upper 60s and low 70s. Southern counties along I-90 will see another warm day, with heat indices near 100°.

On Wednesday, a large high pressure system will pass to our north, helping to pull cooler, less humid air into the state. It will be a dry day with a mix of clouds and sunshine, with highs dropping into the low 70s. On Thursday, the next front will approach from the west. There are time differences, but this feature will likely bring our next chance for showers and maybe a few thunderstorms. Right now, it looks like the chances will increase in the afternoon, with a more likely Thursday night. Warm, humid air will be in place ahead of the front, bringing highs back into the low 80s, along with a brief increase in humidity. There will be some heavier rain, but it looks like it will clear up in time to prepare us for a nicer end to the work week and a beautiful holiday weekend. The next high pressure system will move down from the northwest, bringing sunshine and more comfortable weather as we close out the month of August.
