The Wild World of Sid Vicious After the Wrestler Dies at 63: A Bloody SCISSORS Fight and a Disgusting Broken Leg Live on TV

Although his professional wrestling career may not have reached its full potential, WWE legend Sid Vicious’ life was one for the books. He starred in a bloody brawl in Blackburn and had his leg broken on live TV.

On Monday, Sid Vicious – real name Sid Eudy – who also went by the ring name Sycho Sid, sadly passed away at the age of 63 after a long battle with cancer.

Eudy’s passing was announced in a statement from his son Gunner, who praised his father’s strength for his ability to transcend the corners of the squared circle.

“Dear Friends and Family, I am deeply saddened to share that my father, Sid Eudy, has passed away after a years-long battle with cancer,” Gunner wrote. “He was a man of strength, kindness and love, and his presence will be deeply missed.

The statement added: “We appreciate your thoughts and prayers as we mourn this loss. Details for a memorial service will be shared soon. Thank you for your support.”

As one of the top heels of the WWF and WCC, Eudy’s career included title reigns in both organizations. The Arkansas native was a two-time WWF World Champion, a two-time WCW Heavyweight Champion, and a former WCW United States Heavyweight Champion.

But it wasn’t just in the ring that the decorated wrestler shone in action-packed scenes.

An infamous story that wrestling fans know is Eudy’s brawl with Arn Anderson during a WCW tour in England. The incident in Blackburn involved a group of drunken wrestlers, broken beer bottles, a chair and scissors.

Far from the work they had come across the pond to perform, the real, off-script incident exploded in a hotel bar after the long trip from the States. According to Pro Wrestling Stories, Eudy made a comment about “old man” Ric Flair hogging all the shine and money in the industry.

“So I said, ‘You want to know what’s wrong with our company? We got an old man in Ric Flair who needs to get the f*** out of the way!'” Eudy said in an account of the incident.

Anderson stood up for his friend and jumped into action. A verbal altercation ensued, with beer flying across the bar. While heads remained cool, Eudy decided to write the credits once everyone went to their rooms.

“When I went to my room, (Arn Anderson) and some other guys were in the hallway and he broke a beer bottle and threatened to cut me,” Eudy said, via PWS.

Once safely in his room, Eudy went to Anderson’s room armed with a hotel chair, but when he realized how drunk he was, he decided not to use it after knocking.

“So Arn comes out, and I was gone, turned around, saw his door open, turned around, and there he was with a pair of scissors in his hands,” he recalled. “I was just going along with him, and I said, ‘Hey man, this is going too far.’ And he was standing there, coming after me!”

The situation escalated and the sharp tools were used to turn the hotel hallway into a blood-red mess. If other wrestlers had not intervened after hearing the commotion, the outcome of the incident would have been even worse.

Both Anderson and Eudy spent the night in the hospital. Anderson suffered 20 stab wounds to the chest and abdomen, while Eudy was stabbed four times, PWS said.

Despite the near-death incident, neither man pressed charges. Instead, they exchanged apologies and came to terms. However, WCW President Eric Bischoff fired Eudy after several members of his roster threatened to leave if he wasn’t fired. Anderson, on the other hand, got away with a suspension.

Although the horrific evening in Blackburn occurred off-screen, Eudy would play a starring role in another painful incident years later.

WWE is saddened to learn of the passing of Sid Eudy.

Sid was a two-time WWE Champion and one of the most impressive and fearsome athletes of his generation. He had a natural charisma that immediately attracted him to the WWE Universe. Sid stands 6’10” and rose to fame in 1989 when he signed with WCW, where he wrestled with and against some of the biggest names in the industry, including The Steiner Brothers, The Road Warriors and The Four Horseman.

He made his WWE debut as Sid Justice and was a Special Guest Referee at SummerSlam 1991, where WWE Champion Hulk Hogan and The Ultimate Warrior took on The Triangle of Terror in a 3-on-2 Handicap Match. That same night, Sid saved Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth from an attack at the evil hands of Jake Roberts and The Undertaker at the newlyweds’ reception.

After several years away from WWE, Sid made his triumphant return as “Sycho Sid”, aligning himself with Shawn Michaels and being in his corner at WrestleMania XI when The Heartbreak Kid challenged Diesel for the WWE Title. An iconic rivalry between the two would begin that night, with Sid winning the WWE Championship from The Showstopper at Survivor Series in 1996 and joining the hallowed ranks of champions. After losing the title back to Michaels, Sid became a two-time champion by defeating Bret Hart on the February 17, 1997 edition of Raw.

Known as “The Master and Ruler of the World”, Sid’s reputation as one of the strongest and most exciting superstars left its mark on the WWE, and his influence is still felt in wrestling rings around the world.

WWE extends its condolences to Eudy’s family, friends and fans.

In January 2001, disaster struck at WCW’s Sin pay-per-view when Sid attempted a top-rope big boot, a move that was highly unusual for a wrestler of his size.

Eudy landed awkwardly, resulting in a horrific leg injury that broke his leg in multiple places. The injury was so severe that it effectively ended Sid’s full-time wrestling career.

Despite the serious injury, Sid made sporadic appearances in the wrestling world over the years, including a brief return to WWE in 2012 and appearances on the independent circuit.

A month before his passing, the legendary wrestler begged WWE in a heartbreaking tweet to induct him into the Hall of Fame.

“Hopefully 2025 will be the year I get inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame,” he wrote on July 29. “Time is ticking so it’s now or never for me. With Vince McMahon gone the company is more open to suggestions. Triple H needs to listen to the voices of my fans.”

Despite the incidents that overshadowed his in-ring greatness, Eudy will be remembered by his fans as one of the wrestling giants who shared the ring with the greats.

While his resume and body of work have earned him the right to be included on the prestigious list, the legendary wrestler will unfortunately no longer be there if and when his name is included.
