LSU tight end Mac Markway transfers to Nebraska football

A former nationally ranked tight end is joining Nebraska just days before the season opener.

Mac Markway announced on social media that he is now a Husker after entering the portal from LSU in early August. The 6-foot-3, 250-pound St. Louis native played in 12 games — one start — as a true freshman with the Huskers last season, making three catches for 16 yards, including a 3-yard touchdown against Georgia State.

Markway saw action on 160 offensive snaps and 39 more on special teams. He has been at LSU since January 2023 and has closed out more than 20 other major offers as a top-250 national prospect and composite four-star.

LSU’s tight end room remains filled, with several players making strong plays during camp. Nebraska’s initial depth chart at the position lists juniors Thomas Fidone and Nate Boerkircher — both big-time pass catchers — in the top two spots, followed by sophomore Luke Lindenmeyer.
