The Green Bay Packers wait to find out the severity of Jordan Love’s injury

Fear.

Concern.

Discomfort.

Those emotions were undoubtedly running through every Green Bay Packers player as they waited for news about Jordan Love’s injury.

Love, the Packers’ franchise quarterback, suffered a leg injury in the closing moments of Green Bay’s 34-29 loss to Philadelphia in São Paulo, Brazil, on Friday.

As the Packers prepared for a 10-hour-plus flight home, the loss in the season opener was secondary. Love’s health — and the fate of Green Bay’s season — hung in the balance.

“Yeah, that was tough to watch,” Packers defensive tackle Kenny Clark said. “That’s the franchise right there. Hopefully he can come back next week and be right back up.”

Love was injured on the third-to-last play of the game.

The Packers had a first-and-10 from their own 49 with 15 seconds left when Love came under heavy pressure from Philadelphia defensive linemen Jalen Carter and Josh Sweat. Love threw a backwards pass to Josh Jacobs, but as he did so, Carter had Love’s leg and Sweat pushed the quarterback to the ground.

Love writhed in pain for several seconds and eventually had to be helped off the field by team doctor Pat McKenzie and head coach Nate Weir.

Afterward, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts came to the Green Bay sideline to check on Love, and social media was abuzz with thoughts and prayers for Love.

Packers coach Matt LaFleur said, “I don’t know” when asked two questions about Love. Green Bay players were also in the dark, but very concerned.

“I’m honestly not sure,” Packers wideout Christian Watson said. “Whatever it is, we’re going to support him 100 percent. We know what kind of guy he is. How he handles everything. Whatever it is, I know he’s going to get through it. We’re going to get through it. Let God take care of the rest. I’m not sure yet.”

Added defensive end Rashan Gary: “Man, that’s our quarterback. I still have to watch him. I just hope he’s good.”
