Jordan Love limps off the field in potential Packers injury nightmare

The Packers may have more to worry about than just a Week 1 loss.

Not only did Green Bay lose 34-29 to the Eagles in Brazil, but quarterback Jordan Love suffered a lower-body injury on the final series of the game, limping off the field with help from the team at Corinthians Arena.

“We know what kind of guy he is, how he handles everything,” wide receiver Christian Watson said. “Whatever it is, I know he’s going to get through it. We’re going to get through it.”

The injury occurred just after Love threw a 33-yard pass to Jayden Reed, moving the Packers closer to midfield.

On the next play, with just under 20 seconds left on the clock, Love was under intense pressure from Jalen Carter and Josh Sweat when he threw a backward pass to Josh Jacobs for a gain of 4 yards.

Carter was on the ground holding Love’s left leg as Sweat pushed the quarterback to the ground.

The Packers’ training crew attended to him while he remained on the ground.

In the end he did it cautiously, but received support from two employees.

“That’s the franchise right there,” defensive lineman Kenny Clark said. “Hopefully he can be back next week and be right back on track.”

After the game, head coach Matt LaFleur told reporters he wasn’t sure if Love was injured or not.

“I don’t know. I don’t know,” he said, according to ESPN.

Reserve Malik Willis took over for the final two plays and threw an incomplete pass before taking a game-ending sack.

When the players entered the field after the final whistle, Love did not immediately get up from the Packers bench, where the Eagles quarterback was sitting. Jalen Hurts met him for a final handshake.

Peacock cameras showed Love receiving help from the field and in the tunnel after that moment.

Love, who signed a $220 million contract extension in the offseason, finished with 260 passing yards, two touchdowns and one interception in the loss.
