Terrifying encounter between drivers and cars in Cranbourne, Melbourne

A man has been injured and three vehicles damaged after a man allegedly hid in bushes and threw rocks at cars in Melbourne’s south-east.

Police are appealing for information after three separate vehicles were attacked as they travelled along the South Gippsland Hwy in Cranbourne at approximately 4.25am on August 5.

According to police, the vehicles slowed down because drivers had to swerve to avoid trash and debris on the road.

“When the vehicles slowed down, someone hiding in the bushes threw stones,” police said.

Rocks smashed through the passenger window of the first car, a blue Toyota Corolla sedan, damaging the passenger pillar.

The second vehicle, a white Hino truck and trailer, was damaged when a rock hit the windshield, breaking a mirror.

A stone then flew through the windscreen of the third vehicle, a white Renault van, sending glass into the driver’s eye.

He was slightly injured.

According to police, all three drivers stopped at the scene and saw a man running towards Lesdon Ave, Cranbourne.

Investigators are urging anyone with information or footage of the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report it online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
