Horned Frogs outscore Cardinal 457-281 in total offense




STANFORD, California – TCU was strong on both ends in the season opener with a 34-27 win over Stanford.

With 6:57 left to play and trailing 24-20, Josh Hoover led an 8-play, 74-yard drive, capped by a 4-yard scoring pass to Jack Bechto put the Horned Frogs on top and stay up 27-24 with 3:13 remaining. The drive was sparked by a 34-yard completion to JP Richardson.

After Stanford forced a 4-and-out on the ensuing series, which included a combined sack by Marcel Brooks And Devean dealTCU sealed the win four plays later with a Cam Kok A 7-yard scoring run to make it 34-24 with 1:51 left.

Bech (139) and (107) gave TCU two 100-yard receivers in the same game for the first time since Derius Davis (139) and Quentin Johnston (114) against Oklahoma State in 2020.

Hoover completed his first eight attempts, hitting 28 of 42 for 353 yards and two touchdowns.

TCU outscored Stanford 457-to-281 in total offense. The Horned Frogs had 10.0 tackles for loss and 4.0 sacks.
