The first trailer for Taylor Sheridan’s Farmer shows a top-tier group battling each other in West Texas over the oil trade.

“The world has already convinced itself that you’re bad and I’m bad because I give them the one thing they deal with every day!” recurrent guest star Jon Hamm marvels in the footage (below).

The official description of the show: “Farmer is a contemporary tale of seeking fortune in the world of oil rigs. Based on the remarkable 11-part podcast Tree city from Imperative Entertainment and Texas MonthlyThe series is an above/below story of rough diamonds and wild billionaires who fuel a boom so big it changes our climate, our economy, and our geopolitics.” The series is co-created by Sheridan and Christian Wallace.

“It’s based on oil speculators and what they call landmen, the guys who run around trying to acquire mineral rights and land rights in hopes of speculating and finding oil,” Hamm previously said of the project. “There’s a lot of oil under the ground here in Texas and they’re constantly trying to find it. It’s a very well-told story and I think it’s an interesting look at what happens in terms of how we get the stuff that runs our cars and our lives and our planes and everything in our modern world.”

Farmer stars Oscar winner Billy Bob Thornton and Demi Moore, along with Ali Larter (The last victim), Michelle Randolph (1923), Jacob Lofland (Joker2), Kayla Wallace (When the heart calls), James Jordan (Yellowstone), Mark Collie (Nashville) and Paulina Chávez (Ashley Garcia’s Expanding Universe).Andy Garcia (Consumables franchise) and Michael Peña (End of the watch) are also guests.

Hamm plays Monty Miller, a titan of the Texas oil industry who has a long personal and professional relationship with Tommy Norris (Thornton). Moore plays Cami, the wife of another powerful Texas oilman and a friend of Norris.

Farmer The first of 10 episodes premieres November 17 on Paramount+.
