Sunshine and above average temperatures

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) — Calm conditions top the forecast for the next few days as temperatures across the state are set to climb back above average for the rest of the week and into the weekend. If you’re looking for chances for meaningful moisture, you won’t find them in this forecast.

Expect clouds to clear through Tuesday evening as high pressure moves through the area. Skies will remain clear through the overnight hours, allowing temperatures to drop into the 40s to low 50s across the state. Skies should remain sunny to mostly sunny through the day on Wednesday as high pressure moves through the area.

Temperatures on Wednesday will be a few degrees above average, with temperatures ranging between 27 and 30 degrees Celsius.

No major temperature swings or storm systems to speak of in the extended forecast – at least not here. Right now, tropical storm – and future hurricane – Helene will cause problems along the Florida coast and in the southeastern portions of the country. Here at home, however, much of the coming week is forecast to be sunny to mostly sunny with high temperatures generally in the low 80s each day. We’ll have about a 20% chance of an isolated shower or two in the weekend forecast as moisture from Helene flows northward – that said, that chance of rain is generous at best. It wouldn’t be surprising to end September without any additional rainfall for many locations across the state.
