LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – On April 4, 1957, the $15 million Tropicana Las Vegas opened.

The opening helped Bally’s shape the essence of the Las Vegas Strip.

The Folies Bergère song and dance show debuted in 1959. The world-famous event would last for about 50 years.

In 1962, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority captured golfers and golf cart drivers the Chic Tropicana Country Club.

The Tropicana attracted legendary stars such as Eddie Fisher, Eddie Cantor and Sammy Davis Jr.

From 1976 onwards the casino started to fill up. The Tiffany Tower, renamed the Paradise Towerwas added in 1979.

It brought with it another 600 rooms.

In May 2023, Bally’s announced a partnership that changed everything.

It reached one agreement with the Oakland A’s to bring a new baseball stadium to the Tropicana site, expected to be completed in 2028.

On April 2 this year, the casino’s doors were locked and closed for good. Many employees were present to say goodbye.

Wednesday, the The Club and Paradise Towers still stand.

The implosion of the towers is scheduled for Wednesday morning at 2:37 am
