The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Criminal Investigation Department has filed a case against former MP Prajwal Revanna for rape and against his father and MLA HD Revanna for sexual harassment.

According to the SIT, which is investigating four cases against Prajwal, the over 2,000-page chargesheet contains the statements of around 150 witnesses.

The complaint, filed in a special court for representatives of the public, relates to one of the cases involving the alleged sexual abuse of a domestic worker.

The indictment includes samples, biological, physical, scientific, mobile, digital and other relevant evidence collected.

In addition, an expert opinion was obtained before the charges were filed, the SIT said.

While MLA Revanna, son of former Prime Minister and JD(S) leader HD Deve Gowda, has been charged under Sections 354 and 354 (A) of the IPC, his 33-year-old son Prajwal has been booked under Sections 376, 376 (2)(K), 354, 354(A) and 354(B) of the IPC.

The first complaint against the father-son couple was filed based on a complaint from the domestic helper in their home.

The victim, who was also a relative of the MLA’s wife Bhavani, alleged that she was sexually harassed multiple times.

Prajwal contested the recent Lok Sabha elections as an NDA candidate from Hassan and lost.

Ahead of the second phase of Lok Sabha elections on April 26, numerous graphic videos surfaced on social media showing many women being sexually abused, allegedly by Prajwal.

Following this, the chairperson of the Karnataka State Commission for Women, Nagalakshmi Chowdhary, requested an inquiry and wrote to the Congress government, which subsequently ordered an inquiry.
