Colorado’s Travis Hunter stunned fans and sports stars with stunning touchdown catch

The Colorado Buffaloes, powered by three touchdown passes from quarterback Shedeur Sanders and three touchdown receptions from two-way star Travis Hunter, opened the 2024 season with a 31-26 victory over North Dakota State at Folsom Field on Thursday night.

Sanders and Hunter, as they often did in the 2023 season, made some impressive plays, but one particular play from Hunter stood out.

With just under eight minutes left in the fourth quarter, the Buffaloes led 24-20. They scored a third-and-goal with five minutes left when Sanders passed to Hunter. Somehow, Hunter managed to get his hands in position to catch the ball while surrounded by a North Dakota State defender.

The touchdown reception gave the Buffaloes some much-needed breathing room. It also left virtually everyone, from star athletes like Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James to sports pundits like former ESPN analyst Robert Griffin III to college football fans on X, formerly known as Twitter, in awe of Hunter.

ESPN NFL analyst and Super Bowl champion Ryan Clark called Hunter the best player in college football, an opinion many fans and experts seemed to agree with.

Hunter, who caught seven passes for 132 yards and three scores as a receiver while also playing more than 40 snaps as a cornerback, is already being considered a top pick in the 2025 NFL draft.

If he can maintain this level of play on both sides of the ball, Hunter could indeed take home a valuable asset to his team at the end of the American football season.
