Sid Vicious’ Son Reveals Father’s Health Issues After WWE Legend’s Death

Sid Vicious’ son has revealed more about the health issues his father, whose real name was Sid Eudy, faced before the WWE legend passed away at the age of 63, which was announced on Monday.

Gunnar Eudy posted on Facebook Tuesday morning that his father was diagnosed with stage 4 non-Hodgkin lymphoma in April 2021, five years after he was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and atrial fibrillation.

“Although he never told anyone about his battle with cancer, Sid lived his life to the fullest, going to the gym, taking boxing lessons, performing for his fans and of course T-ball games for the kids,” Gunnar wrote. “He passed away peacefully in his bed, leaving behind a legacy of strength and determination. I have never met anyone with even a fraction of my father’s strength, he was truly one of a kind.

“Thank you everyone for the encouraging words and love, we definitely feel it, we have received thousands of messages and are grateful for each one of them. I don’t have time to answer but I have read them all, thank you, thank you, thank you!”

Sid Vicious, also known as Sid Justice and Sycho Sid, played for the then WWF and WCW in the 1990s, winning the world championship twice for each company. He was also a member of Ric Flair’s famous Four Horsemen group.

He wrestled in the main event of WrestleMania 8, where he lost to Hulk Hogan, and at WrestleMania 13, where he lost the world title to The Undertaker.

One of Eudy’s most iconic moments came during the main event of Survivor Series 1996 at Madison Square Garden, when he defeated Shawn Michaels for the WWF title, much to the delight of the crowd who were fully behind him, despite his villain status at the time.

“Saddened to hear of Sid Eudy’s passing,” Michaels wrote Monday on X. “An unforgettable presence, and it cannot be overstated how integral his role was in creating ‘The Heartbreak Kid.’ His work, legacy and influence will inspire our business for generations.”

WWE’s Chief Content Officer, former wrestling star Triple H, also paid tribute to Eudy in X.

“The Master and Ruler of the World. Few artists in the history of our company have the charisma, intensity and ability to connect with an audience like Sid,” he wrote. “My thoughts are with Sid’s family, friends and fans.”
