Nebraska State Patrol releases identity of pilot killed in Knox County plane crash

CROFTON, Neb. (KOLN) – The pilot who died in a small plane crash in Knox County on Monday has been identified as Joseph Rudloff, 73, of Norfolk.

Nebraska State Patrol troopers responded to two separate small plane crashes that occurred Monday morning in Knox County and Wayne County.

The first crash occurred around 9:30 a.m., about four miles southwest of Crofton. Troopers, first responders and Knox County Sheriff’s deputies arrived on the scene, where Rudloff, the plane’s sole occupant, was pronounced dead.

Shortly after, a second plane crash was reported near Wayne, Nebraska. Details of that incident will be released later by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.

NSP said local officials are in contact with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) regarding both incidents. Troopers have deployed drones to examine both crash scenes as part of the ongoing investigations.
