Saints-Eagles: Live updates of the score of the game in New Orleans | Saints

The New Orleans Saints host the Philadelphia Eagles at 12:00 p.m. Sunday as the home team looks to maintain momentum after an impressive 2-0 start to the season. You can follow along for score and live updates.

The Saints have scored a total of 91 points on offense this season, with Derek Carr and the rest of the offense far exceeding expectations early in the season.

The Eagles enter the game with a 1-1 lead after the Atlanta Falcons staged a comeback to beat Philadelphia at home on Monday.

The Saints and Eagles last played each other on January 1, 2023, with New Orleans defeating Philadelphia 20-10.

Read below for the latest news about the game at the Caesars Superdome.

UPDATED, 12:10 p.m.: Lucas Patrick, who has also had a strong start, per PFF, will move to center in McCoy’s absence. Oli Udoh is in place to replace Patrick at left guard.

They look good on the first play, a 4-yard Kamara run around left tackle. Then Philly jumps offside, and it’s second-and-1, easy for Kamara and another first down.

UPDATED, 12:07 p.m.: The Eagles manage to score a run, something the Saints haven’t seen very often, but they follow it up with a 9-yard pass from Derek Carr to Chris Olave and an Alvin Kamara run that he takes out of bounds for a first down.

Old friend CJ Gardner-Johnson gave Kamara an extra boost when he threw him out of bounds there, which drew some boos but no flags.

More notably, center Erik McCoy — the league’s highest-rated offensive lineman through two weeks, according to PFF — is injured and tentatively headed to the injury tent. He’s definitely one to watch.

UPDATED, 12:01: Drew Brees is in the room today as the Saints Legend of the Game, and that provided the first real cheer of the day.

The Eagles win the toss and defer, so for the third straight week, the Saints will start the game with the football. That could be a good thing, given the way this offense is going.

And guess who led the Who Dat chant? It’s #9. We’re officially ready for kickoff.

UPDATED, 11:52 AM: What an atmosphere we have in the Dome for week 3, Saints vs. Eagles. There are a fair number of Philadelphia fans here, so it will be two-way noise, although Saints fans are obviously in attendance in large numbers.

During the pre-match introductions I noticed that the building felt different than in years past, and possibly even during the Dennis Allen era.

We’re about nine minutes away from kick-off.

UPDATED, 10:54 AM: Welcome back to the Saints live blog. I’m Times-Picayune Saints Editor Zach Ewing, here to bring you some updates, analysis and social reaction from Saints vs. Eagles at the Caesars Superdome today.

I’ve been doing this for two years now, and this one has the most big-game feel of them all. In fact, I think it’s the Saints’ biggest home game since Halloween of 2021, when Jameis Winston was injured but the Saints beat Tom Brady and the reigning Super Bowl champion Bucs to complete a 5-2 start.

Either way, here’s to a 3-0 start and continued hype and momentum for the Saints’ historic start, with wins of 47-10 over Carolina and 44-19 last week in Dallas.

One early note: Taysom Hill (chest) is out for the Saints, which isn’t unexpected after he was downgraded to questionable yesterday. It means rookie tight end Dallin Holker will make his NFL debut, as will rookie linebacker Jaylan Ford.

Other inactive players for the Saints: WR Bub Means, WR AT Perry, QB Spencer Rattler (emergency third QB), DT Khalen Saunders and LB D’Marco Jackson.

For the Eagles, safety CJ Gardner-Johnson is active, meaning the former Saints instigator will face New Orleans for the first time. That should be interesting.

For Philadelphia, star receiver AJ Brown and former LSU star linebacker Devin White are inactive.

We’re back with much more as kick-off approaches.
