Patrick Mahomes playfully taunts former teammate during Royals rally vs. Yankees in Game 3

Patrick Mahomes was on hand to watch the Royals take on the Yankees in Game 3 of the ALDS and cheered emphatically after they tied the game in the bottom of the fifth.

The moment even went viral when TBS cameras caught Mahomes running over to celebrate in the face of a Yankees fan in the suite he was sitting in.

The Yankees fan, it turns out, was former teammate Gehrig Dieter, who played for the Chiefs from 2018 to 2020.

Mahomes, the Chiefs’ star quarterback who has helped lead the franchise to three Super Bowl titles, jumped from his seat in celebration and then quickly walked over to Dieter, who had been standing on the other side of the suite.

Mahomes jumped on him and appeared to start jokingly at him as Dieter laughed.

Dieter then pretended to raise his fists in a fighting stance before Mahomes turned away.

The former Chiefs player probably had the last laugh, however, as the Yankees won 3-2.

Mahomes owns a small share of the Royals, and it was clear he wanted to be at the game, although he suggested it could lead to a fight with his wife Brittany.

“That’s the plan; I just have to – it’s (the) bye week,” Mahomes said recently, according to Chiefs Wire. “So Brittany’s vacation and my participation in the Royals game will definitely cause a fight.”

The NFL star wasn’t the only Mahomes in the building on Wednesday night, as his brother Jackson was there too.

The two posed for a photo – both wearing Royals jerseys.

They will have to hope for a better result on Thursday night, otherwise Kansas City’s baseball season will be over.
