Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd support Coco Gauff at US Open

Coco Gauff reached the fourth round of the US Open on Friday ahead of UConn stars Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd.

The two members of the UConn Huskies women’s basketball team were in Gauff’s players’ box. During the game, Bueckers was seen taking a photo of the court with her phone and smiling next to Fudd.

As Bueckers chatted with Gauff after her win, American Ben Shelton gave the Wooden Award winner a fist bump before walking onto the court to face Frances Tiafoe.

Gauff defeated world number 27 Elina Svitolina 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.

Bueckers uploaded a video of Gauff’s decisive point to her Instagram story with the caption: “Let’s goooooooo” with a goat emoji. She showed her enthusiasm for Gauff and cheered for her on X.

This is not the first time that Bueckers has expressed her support for Gauff.

During the singles final at last year’s US Open, the Huskies guard wrote on X, “How do you say Coco is HOOPIN, the tennis version?” Gauff went on to defeat Aryna Sabalenka 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 to win her first Grand Slam.

Bueckers averaged 21.9 points and 5.2 rebounds, while Fudd averaged 11 points last season, appearing in only two games because of a torn ACL and meniscus. UConn lost in the Final Four to Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Both players are entering their fourth seasons with the Huskies.
