Oregon volleyball’s 11-match win streak snapped against No. 3 Penn State

On the first road trip of its inaugural season in the Big Ten, the No. 11 Oregon volleyball team took its 11e straight win against Ohio State in Columbus on Thursday before a loss to No. 3 Penn State on Friday to close out the week.

The Ducks (11-2, 3-1 Big Ten) defeated the Buckeyes in straight sets (25-23, 25-21, 25-14) before a tough trip to State College ended in a sweep by the Nittany Lions (25-19, 25-19, 25-17) Friday evening.

The loss to Penn State is Oregon’s second of the season, with the previous loss coming to No. 1 Pitt in the Ducks’ season opener.

The Ducks hit just .075 as a team to Penn State’s .284 and committed 25 offensive errors in the loss. Star junior outside hitter Mimi Colyer had just two kills on 23 total attacks and hit -.130. Michelle Ohwobete led Oregon with 10 kills in the match.

Colyer had a team-high 16 kills against the Buckeyes in a sweep Thursday night, with Noemie Glover adding eight and Onye Ofoegbu another seven. Cristin Cline continued her strong play with 37 assists.

Who does the Oregon volleyball team play against?

The Ducks get a short week, playing No. 21 USC at Matthew Knight Arena on Wednesday before a home game on Sunday against No. 25 Washington.
