OFFICIAL RULES: Who starts where in Zandvoort after the relegation of Magnussen, Albon and Hamilton

Can polesitter Lando Norris make a good start this time around and beat Max Verstappen into Turn 1? That’s the key question that will be answered after the lights go out at Zandvoort, as the McLaren and Red Bull rivals line up on the front row once again.

Norris has his teammate Oscar Piastri behind him, but Verstappen is not so lucky (Sergio Perez starts fifth). He will try to pass Mercedes’ George Russell from P4 on the grid.

Charles Leclerc is the leading Ferrari in P6, while the Aston Martins of Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll fill the fourth row, with Pierre Gasly of Alpine and the second Ferrari of Carlos Sainz completing the top 10.

Notable is Lewis Hamilton, who qualified a disappointing P12 for Mercedes and then dropped three places for impeding Perez. After penalties from others, he now starts 14th.

The disappointment at Williams was even greater. Alex Albon had finished a spectacular eighth on Saturday, but was disqualified for a technical infringement on the floor of his car.

Both he and team-mate Logan Sargeant, who missed qualifying after his heavy crash in FP3, will start from last position after the stewards cleared them to race.

Last to start from the pit lane is Kevin Magnussen, after Haas opted to replace his car’s power unit elements after qualifying. The Dane would start 13th.
