She told the PA news agency: “I think Oasis are one of the most iconic bands to come out of Manchester in the modern era, and obviously we worked really hard behind the scenes to make sure this could happen, and that they could play Manchester at a fantastic homecoming concert.

“And I think it’s just really, really great. It’s great for the city, the city has changed massively since Oasis were last together, hopefully for the better on the world stage, but we’ll still be really excited to have the two Burnage boys when they reunite and get together in (council-run) Heaton Park.”

She added: “I think the whole city will be excited next summer, and I think we’ll undoubtedly see a lot of events and activities that go along with it and really celebrate it for the moment that it is.

“I think we’re going to make sure we have a good party all over the city that people can enjoy.”

He said: “You wonder if they’re going to survive the tour, how they’re going to rehearse? There’s been so many little transgressions with them, you wonder, is the old stuff going to come back up?

“But no, ultimately, at the moment, very positive and yes, it is what people want. It is what, arguably, Britain would want at the moment, because everyone is quite depressed and doesn’t have much money.

When the makers of “Wonderwall” split in 2009, the once brotherly relationship between Noel and Liam became barren and inhospitable: no more Oasis, just desert.

Since then, fans have continually speculated about a reunion, although the Gallaghers’ frosty relationship has long made this unlikely.

Now it appears the infamous duo have patched things up – at least enough to get back on stage together.

The Manchester-born band, who released their hit album Sure Maybe About thirty years ago, a series of dates were confirmed that will kick off in July 2025 at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium.

In footage from their penultimate show a month earlier, Liam is visibly upset as Oasis performs at the iTunes Festival in London.

According to reports at the time, Liam became involved in a brawl with an audience member during the performance after an object was thrown at him.
