HOUSTON – Tropical Storm Gordon formed this morning in the far eastern Atlantic Ocean. This system poses no threat to land as it moves west.

At its closest point, the planet is about 3,000 miles (4,800 kilometers) from Houston.

This is the 7th named storm in the Atlantic basin this year. The next named storm will be Helene.

The tropical season ends on November 30th.
