The game

The Kansas City Chiefs begin the defense of their most recent NFL title (and what could be an unprecedented Super Bowl three-peat) by hosting the Baltimore Ravens in the league’s 2024 season opener at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:20 p.m. Arrowhead Time. The game will be televised nationally on NBC — locally on KSHB/41.

The teams last met in January for the AFC Championship at Baltimore’s M&T Bank Stadium, a game in which Kansas City (a 4-point underdog) won 17-10 to advance to Super Bowl LVIII at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

That was the fifth game between the Chiefs and Ravens since Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson became their respective starting quarterbacks. In that span, each quarterback has been named the NFL’s Most Valuable Player twice — but Kansas City has won all but one of five games. In Week 2 of 2021, Baltimore claimed a 36-35 home win — but the last time the Chiefs hosted, they claimed a 34-20 “Monday Night Football” victory in Week 3 of 2020.

What you need to know in the stadium

• Parking lots open: 2:30 pm
• Stadium gates open: 5:00 p.m.
• Parking passes: All parking passes must be purchased in advance at www.Chiefs.com. Payments at the parking garage toll booths are not accepted.
• Cashless Arrowhead: All concession stands and points of sale are completely cashless. In addition to traditional credit/debit card scan and chip reader options, all fixed points of sale offer mobile tap or scan payment options including Chiefs Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay. In-stadium vendors and salespeople are credit card only.
• Transparent bags, permitted items: The NFL Clear Bag Policy applies to all events at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. Fans can visit www.Chiefs.com/stadium/clearbag for important information regarding the clear bag policy and a full list of permitted and prohibited items. Guests will enter the stadium through CEIA OPENGATE security screening technology. As guests approach the stadium, they must keep items in their pockets and/or clear bags while passing through the advanced screening devices and follow the instructions of security personnel. All fans should proceed through the screening gates at a normal pace, as there is no need to wait for the person in front of them or to stop unless otherwise instructed.
• COVID-19: Masks are no longer required in indoor settings. However, per the recommendation from the Kansas City, Missouri Health Department, masks are encouraged. Fans should stay home if they are sick, showing symptoms of COVID-19, or have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. If you get sick and can’t make it to the game, you can resell or transfer your tickets.
