A Nebraska high school is on lockdown after a student was reportedly shot in the stomach.

Authorities launched an emergency search after the suspect fled the scene of the crime from Northwest High School in Omaha on Tuesday morning.

The victim was identified as a 15-year-old student at the school, who was hospitalized in critical condition, KETV reported.

Helicopters were sent to the scene to assist in the search for the shooter, who officers described as “young.” No further descriptions were given.

Following the shooting, nearby Marian High School and Roncalli Catholic High School were also placed on lockdown.
