ESPN’s “College GameDay” traveled to Ann Arbor, Mich., on Saturday for the highly anticipated Week 2 showdown between Michigan and Texas in college football. And for the second week in a row, a “GameDay” expert said Arizona State will not cover the point spread.

While the spotlight was on No. 9 Michigan and No. 3 Texas, ASU was mentioned again during Saturday’s “SuperDogs” segment. The segment features hosts picking underdogs of at least 4.5 points to cover, and Kirk Herbstreit highlighted ASU’s game Saturday night against Mississippi State at Mountain America Stadium.

The Sun Devils are coming off a 48-7 win over Wyoming in a game that was expected to be much more exciting. Last week, Rece Davis used Wyoming as his SuperDog pick at ASU. That didn’t work out so well for Davis.

Mississippi State defeated Eastern Kentucky in the season opener 56-7.

ASU, previously a 6.5-point favorite over Mississippi State, has been cut to 5.5 points at BetMGM Sportsbook. Herbstreit believes that trend is real and that the Sun Devils won’t cover that number against the Bulldogs.

“Jeff Lebby knows how to coach, and that offense, Blake Shapen is coming over from Baylor,” Herbstreit said. “And they have an offense that can score.”

According to ESPN’s matchup predictor, Mississippi State has a 43.5% chance of beating Arizona State on Saturday at Mountain America Stadium in Tempe.
