DETROIT (FOX 2) – Happy first day of October everyone! We officially end September with only 1.22 inches of rain, a deficit of 2 inches. This puts us at the 20th driest September of all time, with records going back to 1894.

As we start a brand new month, we will see some changes in our forecast. A cold front will move through between 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM today, increasing the chance of spotty rain showers and even an isolated thunderstorm. Severe weather is unlikely, but we may hear some claps of thunder.

High temperatures today will reach 76° but lag behind the cold front.

Tonight we will drop to a cool 49 degrees. This means it can be a bit chilly on Wednesday morning when we wake up and step outside. Some sunshine and clear skies could warm us up to 68° by Wednesday.

Drier weather will end the week as we return to the low 70s Thursday and Friday. Our next chance of rain will come on Sunday.
