Man Utd injury news: Kobbie Mainoo, Leny Yoro and Harry Maguire latest updates

Manchester United face a crucial week with two away trips that could either ease the pressure on manager Erik ten Hag with wins or make his position increasingly precarious with defeats.

First up is a trip to Porto in the Europa League on Thursday evening. Porto finished third in the Portuguese league last season and are second this time, three points behind champions Sporting after seven games. They lost their opening Europa League match against Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt, going down 3-2 despite their opponents being reduced to 10 men in the second half.

United suffered a weak 1-1 draw against Dutch side Twente before being beaten by Tottenham Hotspur this weekend. Ten Hag urgently needs his players to respond at Porto, before Sunday’s test drive in the Premier League to Aston Villa provides a new tough challenge.

Here’s a look at the injury concerns at Manchester United.

Kobbie Mainoo

The midfielder was substituted during the 3-0 defeat against Tottenham, but trained with the team this week and appears fully fit.

Mason Mountain

Mount came on against Spurs but was again ruled out with a head injury. He was not required to train this week, but this was believed to be a precaution after suffering a minor cut and no concussion. He is doubtful for Porto but is likely to be available for next weekend’s trip to Aston Villa.

Harry Maguire

Maguire missed the match against Tottenham with an unspecified error in training, but he was back in training this week and is expected to be available.

Victor Lindelof

Lindelof is back in training and the Swedish defender could make his first appearance of the season in the coming weeks.

Luke Shaw

The full-back’s injury problems have continued this season, but he could return later this month after recovering from his calf injury.

Leny Yoro

The big-money signing is not expected to be fit until November after suffering a broken bone in his foot. “Yes, he is doing very well,” Ten Hag said last week. “It’s very nice that his rehabilitation is going in the right direction and I expect him soon, but what I mean by soon is that he is now in the right planning process.

“He is in the right place and will return to the team as soon as possible and then to team training.”

Tyrell Malacia

The full-back missed the entire 2023/24 season due to a knee injury, but was included in United’s Europa League group stages to signal a return is imminent. However, Malacia still hasn’t taken part in team training, so November is a likely return.
