Many people were looking forward to the first game of the 2024-2025 season of the Los Angeles Lakers, in which Bronny James, the son of LeBron James, would play against the NBA competition for the first time.

He came into the game against the Minnesota Timberwolves and played 16 minutes off the bench, and he struggled, going 1-for-6 from the field. However, he was able to serve a remarkable highlight.

Early in the second quarter, the Timberwolves had a fast break opportunity, sending Nickeil Alexander-Walker to the hoop for what appeared to be a sure layup. But the younger James gave chase and did a nice imitation of his father by blocking that layup attempt.

It was actually one of three blocks the younger James had in the game.

Defense may be his only strength that could be at least somewhat NBA-ready. The rest of his game is a work in progress, and most everyone expects him to spend a significant amount of time in the G League honing his skills.
