Arne Slot’s comfortable start as Liverpool manager continued as his new team beat Brentford 2-0 in the Premier League on Sunday.

Liverpool dominated early on and scored a stunning opening goal from a counter-attack when Luis Diaz fired his first goal of the season into the top corner in the 13th minute.

Brentford responded well, heading twice from close range either side of half-time, but Mohamed Salah ended the visitors’ hopes of a goal in the first leg at Anfield with his second goal 20 minutes from time.

Dutchman Slot has now won two 2-0 matches from two games and begins the daunting task of replacing Juergen Klopp as Liverpool manager, with a test trip to Manchester United set to take place.
