The Arizona Cardinals continue their 2024 NFL regular season with a Week 2 NFL game against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, September 15. It is the first of three consecutive home games for the Cardinals.

In the first quarter, rookie WR Marvin Harrision Jr. collected over 100 receiving yards and his first two career touchdowns. The Cardinals also completed a 99-yard touchdown drive.

The Cardinals did everything they needed to do to secure a first-half win against the Rams.

Kyler Murray was 10-for-12 for 191 yards and three touchdowns. He was sacked once but had three carries for 23 yards.

Running back James Conner has 50 yards on nine carries. Wide receiver Marvin Harrision Jr. has four catches for 130 yards and a touchdown. Also with receptions were Michael Wilson, Elijah Higgins, Trey McBride, Trey Benson and Conner.

Rams QB Matthew Stafford is 12-for-18 for 126 yards and has three sacks. Kyren Williams has the Rams’ only carries, with 16 yards on nine attempts.

The Rams had a chance for a field goal, but tried to throw the ball into the end zone, but the throw was not catchable.

Score: Cardinals 24, Rams (half)

A 29-yard field goal was all the Rams managed after a promising drive.

The key play was a 42-yard pass from Matthew Stafford to Demarcus Robinson.

The Rams took advantage of a roughing penalty and worked their way to the Cardinals’ 5-yard line, then came back on consecutive plays and scored a field goal.

Arizona then got a 48-yard field goal from Matt Prater, regaining a 21-point lead.

Score: Cardinals 24, Rams 3 (5:09 Q2)

The Cardinals had three possessions and three touchdowns.

The latter came after a 99-yard drive that began on the Cardinals’ own 1-yard line.

The deciding factor was an 18-yard touchdown pass from Kyler Murray to Elijah Higgins.

Murray is 8 of 9 for 166 yards and three touchdowns.

Score: Cardinals 21, Rams 0 (13:29 Q2)

The Arizona Cardinals lead the Rams 14-0 after the first quarter.

The Rams have yet to record a first down, while the Cardinals have nine. The Cardinals have outscored the Rams 202-13.

Less than 12 minutes into Sunday’s game against the Rams, Cardinals rookie Marvin Harrison Jr. had his first 100-yard receiving game.

Harrison crossed the line with a 33-yard reception from Kyler Murray, giving him 130 yards and two touchdowns on four catches.

The Cardinals began a drive inside their own 1-yard line and needed a quick gain. Kyler Murray passed to Marvin Harrison Jr. down the sideline for a gain of 15 yards.

The play, similar to one a week ago in Buffalo that resulted in an incomplete pass, illustrated the connection between the QB and his No. 1 receiver.

Through 10 minutes of play, Murray is 4-for-5 passing for 100 yards and two touchdowns. Harrison has been targeted on four of those attempts and has three catches for 98 yards and two touchdowns.

Marvin Harrison Jr. got loose from his defender and caught his second pass – and second touchdown pass – of the game.

The 60-yard pass completion came on the first play of the Cardinals’ second possession.

Score: Cardinals 14, Rams 0 (8:07 Q1)

Kyler Murray completed a 23-yard pass to the back of the end zone for the first touchdown of Marvin Harrison Jr.’s young NFL career.

The rookie receiver made a quiet debut a week ago with one catch for 4 yards. The Arizona home crowd was anything but silent after the catch gave the Cardinals a 7-0 lead.

Score: Cardinals 7, Rams 0 (11:03 Q1)

Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon threw the red challenge flag on just the third play of the game. The Rams’ call of a completed catch was quickly overturned.

Gannon has thrown the challenge flag just once during the 2023 season. He is now 2-0 on challenges during his career.

The Cardinals deferred. The Rams received the ball to start the game. Blake Corum returned the kickoff 41 yards.

The Arizona Cardinals received two Olympic gold medals on Sunday: Michael Phelps and Noah Lyles.

Phelps is the most decorated Olympic medalist of all time. Before retiring from professional swimming, Phelps won 28 Olympic medals, including 23 gold.

Lyles won gold in the 100 meters at the 2024 Olympics. He also won bronze in the 200 meters at both the 2020 and 2024 Olympics.

Lyles has his gold medal hanging around his neck, but Phelps didn’t have one. Instead, he shared the moment with his children.
