Lindsey Graham urges Trump to drop ‘toxic’ Laura Loomer: ‘I don’t often agree with Marjorie Taylor Greene’

Lindsey Graham has called on Donald Trump to dump “toxic” far-right conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer after her racist comments and his poor debate performance against Kamala Harris.

The Republican senator, one of Trump’s staunch allies, acknowledged that he agrees with Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who has also called on the former president to distance himself from Loomer after she wrote a racist post denigrating Harris’ Native American heritage.

“Marjorie Taylor Greene is right. I don’t say that very often,” Graham said Huffpost. “We have differences of opinion on policy, but this person’s history is just very toxic. I mean, she even called for Kellyanne Conway’s daughter to be hanged. I don’t know how this all happened, but no, I don’t think it helps. I don’t think it helps at all.”

Greene called Loomer out on Wednesday for a racist post about Harris. “This does not represent who we are as Republicans or MAGA. This does not represent President Trump. This type of behavior should never be tolerated,” she said on social media platform X.

Her reprimand led to a public spat between the two on the social media platform.

In an unusual move, Graham said he agreed with Greene and criticized Loomer’s comments about Harris as “appalling.”

“But it goes deeper than that,” the South Carolina senator continued. “I mean, you know, some of the things she’s said about Republicans and others are disturbing. I mean, to call for someone’s daughter to hang herself. Yeah, no, I think the president would do himself a favor to make sure this doesn’t become a bigger story.”

Before the debate, Graham warned that Trump could lose the election if he doesn’t change his strategy and stop the personal attacks on Harris.

Other Republicans, concerned that Loomer is influencing Trump and fearing she had something to do with his poor performance at the debate, accompanied him on his plane to Philadelphia on Tuesday ahead of the meeting with Harris.

She was also seen in the spin room after the debate and was with Trump in New York when he attended the 9/11 memorial service.

According to Semafor, someone close to the president’s campaign now fears the far-right activist is making Trump’s “weaknesses” worse.

“Trump lost the debate because of his performance or lack thereof,” Dennis Lennox, a Republican consultant, told the outlet. “That’s what happens when you just take a chance, live in the Fox News-X bubble, and rely on Matt Gaetz, let alone Laura Loomer.”

Loomer has become known for her inflammatory behavior, once protesting her Twitter ban by chaining herself to the social media company’s New York office, wearing a yellow Star of David and comparing her treatment to the Holocaust.

The divisive far-right activist has also said she supports white nationalism, insisting the US is a “white Judeo-Christian ethnostate” ruined by diversity.
