Lincoln Police Still Searching for Suspect After Shooting Near Arena That Injured Man

Lincoln Police officers are investigating a shooting that occurred Thursday night near Canopy Street and Q Street that left one man injured.

Lincoln police released more details Friday morning about a shooting that occurred overnight near Pinnacle Bank Arena that left one man injured.

Officers were monitoring concert traffic around Canopy Street and Q Street when they heard multiple gunshots around 11:15 p.m., police said.

A 19-year-old Omaha man suffered a gunshot wound to his right arm and was taken to a local hospital. Police say his injuries are not life-threatening.

LPD discovered at least seven 9mm casings in the area.

A Sexyy Red concert at Pinnacle Bank Arena ended at 11 p.m., and 4,000 to 5,000 concertgoers were leaving around the time of the shooting. Some went back inside when they heard gunfire, arena officials said Friday. The arena uses metal detectors to screen weapons.

Investigators are waiting for the victim to receive further medical treatment before conducting an in-depth interview. It is currently unknown if the shooting was targeted or if the victim was a bystander.

The investigation is ongoing and officers are still searching for the suspect in the shooting. Thomas said the driver of a car believed to be involved was questioned nearby and was not considered a suspect.

LPD believes that there is no ongoing danger to the public.
