Mom, the Janes are fighting again! During Friday night’s concert in Boston, Jane’s Addiction singer Perry Farrell punched guitarist Dave Navarro onstage in the middle of a song, according to multiple media outlets, including Rolling Stone. Footage from the concert shows Farrell walking up to Navarro as he shreds away on the guitar, and as he approaches, he punches him once in the arm before hitting him again. A crew member intervenes and an agitated Farrell walks off the stage. Audience members can be heard wondering if this was “real.” The concert ended after 11 songs, with Eric Avery, the band’s bassist, apologizing to the crowd. Vulture has reached out to the band for comment.

Farrell’s wife, Etty Farrell, posted footage of the fight on Instagram, explaining the situation from a different perspective. She wrote: “Perry’s frustration grew night after night, he felt like the volume on stage was extremely loud and his voice was being drowned out by the band. Perry suffered from ringing in his ears and a sore throat every night. But when the front row audience started complaining to Perry, yelling at him that the band was going too loud and they couldn’t hear him, Perry lost it.” She declared Avery the winner of the fight – an impartial decision.

Tensions have reportedly been building since Jane’s Addiction kicked off their reunion tour in August. It was the first time the band (Perry, Navarro, Avery, Stephen Perkins) had played together since 2010, and the reunion was paired with their first new song with Avery in 34 years. As for the rest of the tour? Jane’s Addiction’s next concert is Sunday in Bridgeport. Vulture has reached out for comment on whether the show will go on. But if it does, things might get a little awkward.
