On September 28, 2024 Saturday evening live returned for the highly anticipated historic 50th season.

Hacking star Jean Smart hosted the season premiere, while ‘Lonely Road’ singer Jelly Roll was the musical guest – both making their SNL debuts.

It was a busy episode, with a lot of political news since then SNL Season 49 ended in May. In the star-studded cold, Maya Rudolph not only returned as Vice President Kamala Harris, but also SNL alumni Dana Carvey as President Joe Biden and Andy Samberg as Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff.

Stand-up comedian Jim Gaffigan also made his SNL debut as Minnesota governor and Harris running mate Tim Walz – while JD Vance was played by season 50 cast member Bowen Yang.

This is the comedian’s second time as host. Bargatze made his SNL debut on October 28, 2023. Its original episode was notable for the viral sketches “Lake Beach” and “Washington’s Dream”.

During his performance on October 3 op Late Night with Seth Meyerswhen asked if it was easier to do SNL for the second time, Bargatze said, “I think I can process it a little better now.”

The British rock group returns to Studio 8H for the eighth time during the show.

They made their SNL debut on the April 7, 2001 episode hosted by Alec Baldwin. Their most recent appearance was on February 4, 2023, on the Pedro Pascal episode. Their performance on October 5 will be broadcast the day after their latest album, Moon Musicis released.
