The Line Fire, which started Thursday afternoon in the eastern part of the San Bernardino County town of Highland, had grown to 7,000 acres by Saturday.

The fire, which was 0% contained, posed no threat or damage to buildings or homes on Saturday.

• All undeveloped land east of Highway 330 to Summertrail Place and north of Highland Avenue

• Neighborhoods east of Church St, north of Highland Ave.
• Neighborhoods east of Weaver, north of Greenspot to the Iron Bridge.

Pet Resources

Residents who need to evacuate can bring their pets and livestock to the Devore Animal Shelter, located at 19777 Shelter Way in Devore.

When dropping off your pet, make sure the animal has identification on it, such as a collar or tag, and any necessary medications.

More than 500 firefighters from various services were busy fighting the forest fires, despite temperatures above 35 degrees.

Highland firefighters said they typically carry 50 to 70 pounds of gear during their 24-hour shifts, often having to hike uphill to get to the best spot to fight the flames.

“It’s hot right now. It’s 110 degrees, so it’s taxing on everybody,” said Justin Veloz, a firefighter with the Rialto Fire Department. “But once you start working, you forget about it. You take breaks every hour and just keep going slow and steady.”

Firefighting aircraft worked in constant rotation from above, while ground crews tried to gain the upper hand in containing the situation.
