You can always count on George Clooney and Brad Pitt to bring the stars of Hollywood to the Venice Film Festival.

The tuxedo-clad “Wolfs” co-stars walked the red carpet Sunday night amid a barrage of blinding flashes, smiling and waving at photographers, just hours after Clooney denied a recent report that the A-list actors were each paid $35 million for their appearances in the Jon Watts crime film, which debuts Sept. 27 on Apple TV+.

Clooney, 63, hit the red carpet with his wife Amal, 46, wearing a pale yellow corset-style dress with a pleated neckline and train. The human rights lawyer carried a glittering gold clutch and wore her hair long and highlighted, with dangling pearl earrings.

Pitt, 60, surprised everyone by stepping out hand-in-hand with his girlfriend Ines de Ramon, a jewelry designer. He wore a tuxedo jacket with satin lapels and a gold button placket over a black T-shirt and flared pants, while she wore a white one-shoulder dress and triple-disc earrings.

The 81st annual film festival runs through September 7.

‘Wolves,’ the new Apple TV+ movie starring Brad Pitt and George Clooney, will skip a splashy theatrical screening

Earlier in the day, Clooney and Pitt expressed disappointment at a press conference in Venice that the film, which is playing out of competition at the festival, will only be in theaters for a week before hitting streaming.

“It’s a bummer,” Clooney said, while also acknowledging that streaming services offer actors more opportunities and a bigger audience for their work. “We need it, our industry needs it.”

“We’ll always be romantic about the theater experience,” Pitt added. “It’s a delicate balance now and it will right itself.”

When asked what it meant that two of the biggest names in the film industry couldn’t get a wide theatrical release as they had requested, Clooney replied, “Obviously we’re turning it down.”

Pitt and Clooney, who last starred together in the Coen brothers’ 2008 comedy “Burn After Reading,” said they jumped at the chance to reunite when they read Watts’ script for “Wolfs.”

“As I’ve gotten older, it’s become more and more important to me to work with the people that I really enjoy spending time with,” Pitt said, while Clooney joked that Pitt is lucky to be offered roles. “He’s very lucky at this age to still be working.”

Clooney also denied a New York Times story that said both stars were paid more than $35 million to star in “Wolfs.”

“It’s bad for our industry when people think that’s the standard for salaries,” the actor said. “I think that’s horrible. It makes it impossible to make a movie.”
