Football Video & Report: September 5 – University of Nebraska

Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule met with members of the media after practice on Thursday. Rhule spoke about preparing for Colorado, the atmosphere and the fans.

“I think we made a leap this week,” he said. “I think we can look at the game and see the things we didn’t do well last week, look at some of the players and see what their natural strengths are, and we came out healthy. You start to pile up the days. We had three days in pads this week to really put in some work, so I think we’re getting a little better every day.”

Rhule spoke about the atmosphere and what he tells his players to prepare them.

“It’s the same message we always have,” he said. “When we play, we worry about ourselves. Try to play one snap at a time. If we play differently because of who we’re playing, then we’re not really who we say we are. We play at our level, and sometimes we don’t play at that level, but the goal this week is to play at our level, and the TV cameras and the viewers shouldn’t affect that.”

Rhule discussed fan support and how he wants the team to feel.

“I want us to enjoy this,” he said. “We obviously have this opportunity because of Colorado and what they bring, but our fans are here because of us, so we’re playing for our fans, we’re playing for our families, we’re playing for each other and we’re playing for the state of Nebraska.”

NU takes on the Colorado Buffaloes on Saturday, September 7 at 6:30 p.m. (CT) at Memorial Stadium. The game will be televised on NBC and streamed on Peacock, with radio coverage provided by the Huskers Radio Network.
